The borders and lettering are a play on the colors of the African motherland from at least a black American perspective. Obama has cloaked himself in 'All-American' red, white, and blue attempting to bridge the cultural divide that pervades the United States. An appropriate byline could have been "Fear of a Black President", echoing Public Enemy's album "Fear of a Black Planet".
