A harmless beggar. But is he really? Who knows, maybe the poor blind person is a disguise for a dangerous robber, who will convert his cane into a weapon at the slightest noise, to demand his pittance. Obviously the passers-by know him because they react to the begging with a seemingly rehearsed ritual. With this Penapai has accomplished a virtually classic cartoon that draws a realistic picture of our world with an apparently absurd everyday situation. What may seem bizarre in the concrete individual case is by global standards normality. While the third world is asking for help, the industrialised countries are trying not to attract attention. But revenge is on the rebound.
